Assuming Vapor Pressure behaves in a similar way throughout a 24hr day to that shown below (with the midpoint of the 'x' axis being midday) The coloured lines A,B&C could represent different situations affected by various climatic conditions and daylight duration etc.

How often a reading is made affects the average that may be recorded for any one day in any one year.

A table of 'averages' (that would be recorded for any one day in any one year) is below the graph, and maybe suprisingly, none are very accurate, some are even mis-leading.

The numbers in the left block are colour-coded and/or boxed to shown which numbers are used in each averaging situation.

Light bluey/green=10point average, a reading approximately every 140minutes

Yellow=5point average, a reading approximately every 5hours

All=30point average, a reading approximately every 50minutes

Boxed=3point average, a reading approximately every 8hours
